Dose anybody know anything about this valve cover? "Made in Canada" it has "LVW 2" and " LANG "

from what i know, lang was one of those "old school" acvw speed parts companies from the 60's/70's. they made and sold power & regular size pulleys, sumps, valve covers...not sure if they made manifolds or not. probably other stuff aswell. they were based out of the vancouver/lower mainland area of british columbia in canada.

if you are interested in selling those valve covers, please let me know.

cheers.

here are a few pics of my lang pulley. unfortunately part of the degree markings were sacrificed to the polishing wheel gods. d'oh.

if you go airspeedparts.com the local guys in Vancouver have a member of their club (DVKK) who is the son of the owner.

Gary Lang is the man! He started "Lang" back in th good old days. He made valve covers, deep sumps, pulleys, pulley covers, breather boxes and much more. EMPI, Truhauf and others all sold his items.

I have a few pulleys, NOS 36 HP valve covers (these are the hardest to find) given to me by Gary as well. I also have one of their very cool breather boxes with NOS Lang decal and instructions.

so if i found a deep sump that said "made in canada" would that mean its a lang product? i found one the other day but didnt buy it.

the one i found looked like whats in the bottom pic

maybe i missed the lang logo? i was looking for it but the sump was covered with greese

It's a LANG sump. Gary made them for many retailers and put their names on some. He also made sumps with no name, not even his own name. If it says "Made in Canada", it's a Lang sump.

ok thanks, if it had said lang i would have definatley bought it but iwasnt sure. is it still something i should buy?

I'd buy it.
There are a few innovative ideas incorporated in Lang sumps. Gary told me that when he designed it, he made the pattern so that there was 1-2mm between each corner of his sump and the little "feet" on the bottom corners of the engine case (where the tin screws on). This was so that if the sump bottomed out, it would only flex a small distance before it contacted. Then the sump wouldn't bend or break.
Compared to a Berg sump of the same volume, a Lang sump has 1" more ground clearance. It also weighs about 5 lbs less.
