| Hi all, my 1969 beetle has a cable-actuated flap on the air cleaner. Obviously the cable has been missing for decades. I have managed to get an air cleaner from the 1970-up single carb which has the flap actuated by its own thermostat on the air cleaner itself (and it is still working!). I am just curious about the extra hole/hose connection that this air cleaner on its left side (opposite to the air intake). I plugged that hole since it is unlikely that it will connect to anything on my 1969. Just curious about the purpose of that extra hole/hose connection on the air cleaner. |

| If it's the 12mm one it's for the charcoal canister purge line, mid 1970 and up feature. |
