The one that started it all for me, my old '72 Super by the name of George.

My second VW, an '84 Vanagon known as Clyde (the camel).

Number three was Clifford, a red '68 Bug I rescued from a junkyard.

And my current VW, a '60 I call Inga.

When we bought our 1980 Westfalia in 1998, the original baby blue had been painted over with navy blue. As the years went by, the paint faded and the rust began to accumulate. Long about 2017, my husband decided to clean up the rust "around the windows". What started out as a little project turned into a new paint job  After months of looking at paint colors we saw a Chevy Spark painted Caribbean Blue. From one viewpoint it looked blue; from another viewpoint it looked green. We loved it! So we had our Westy paint Caribbean Blue from the Chevy Spark, and we named her Sparky. The Passat I refer to as "The Pass It".

If I name my Super "Bowl", will the NFL sue me????

Notice how TV commercials refer to SB as "The Big Game" !!!

For the record: I always find AFC and NFC championship games as better viewing, and even though I'm from Pittsburgh, I never watched the pre-game shows or half time shoes the numerous years they were involved.....

We have had this one for a number of years now and his name is Stinky because of Dieselgate. He is our daily driver with 420K km now and we will drive him until there is nothing left to drive!

When we got my wife's 2000, Forester turbo, we named it Nimbus 2000 in honor of Harry Potter's high performance broom.

Then we got the Lupo for her to drive and with it's small size and 1.4L engine and auto transmission he became Franklin in honor of the turtle in the children's story book of the same name.

Franklin is gone and his replacement has just arrived, as yet unnamed. I am thinking "Old Blue". We will see what the Missus thinks of that...

Still officially unnamed although we have had her for 5 years now is this one. In my mind she should be a Sally or a Susie.

The 67 Blue Coupe is "Sophia" named for the legendary Italian actor Sophia Loren. I thought it fitting since the Italian firm Ghia helped design the KG

The Cherry Red cabriolet is "Joan".
Joan Hathaway is a character in the series "Mad Men played by Christina Hicks.
She played the office manager. The staff nickname is "Red".

The GTI is "Gunther".
Seems like a nice masculine German name.

Mine is Roberto, because I love the name Robert, and his previous owner was called Eddy but real name Roberto. I thought it was fitting to call him Roberto also, because the engine is a Mexican/Brazilian ordered from Mexico back when they were making engines for Beetles in the early 2000's, and so he's like a German with the heart of a Mexican. In other words, he has German precision and Spanish flair. :p

My 1966 is called Clementine, but I usually just call her Clemmy.

The bus got her name in 1982 after a very drunk young cowboy at a rodeo thought she looked like an Emily.

Not all of our vehicles get named, 2 of our pickups don't have names, but the 3rd one, a 1987 Ford F250, is named Stump, and is good at driving itself in a field when it's haying season. My '89 Volvo wagon never had a name for the 17+ years I owned her, but the 2023 Outback that replaced her was immediately named Odie.

A friends 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood was named the Battlecar Cadillactica, still my most favorite vehicle name.

All of our cars have names. The Volvos are all named after Queens, the Race Beetle is Juliette, the BMW Eugenia, and the T4 Ludwig Van Bus

New Golf is still in contention between Bismarcka and Brunhilda

Is it true that the car you use for contests of acceleration in named RuPaul?

When I got my '72 deluxe I named it RDNZL. I have had plenty of cars before and several after. I came to the conclusion that no matter what you name them, they don't come when you call them.

MuzzcoVW Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:33 am

This is Tobias. Named after an old acquaintance who was high maintenance and fickle  Thats Dubwerks sweet black '67 next to him...don't know if he gave it a name yet

MuzzcoVW Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:50 am

This is Sunshine, bought from and named after the original owners. Only 38K miles, but unfortunately has always lived outside. Won't be living outside any longer!

This is Eardly. Named after an old decrepit Jeep that cause the owner grief in the book "The Boat who wouldn't Float" by Farley Mowat.
