I have a 1970 Fastback. Can anyone please tell me what this is and where it goes? Is it a temperature sensor?

Usually called a "thermo time switch"; it senses ambient temperature and will cause the "cold start jet" to fire when it's really cold, though only during cranking, not running. Trigger temperatures varies over the years, some at about 10-20F, others at 0F. I don't think mine has ever been actuated! (SoCal and usually garaged).
It mounts on the top of the block, using one of the case nuts, right hand side. Single wire leads to it. |
