I am looking for a remnant of westy laminate for the top outer piece on my spice rack. Grain runs vertical. Will happily remove laminate from a larger piece of cabinetry if necessary.
Piece is only about 14.5" X 4.5".
I needs to be NICE, without scratches and fading.
Have curtain bungees for trade, or cash, or whatever.
Last missing piece!

I have the SO42 back driver cabinet in amazing shape.

I need 2 curtain rods for Jalousie windows and the rear hatch.

I'm looking for SO42 childs cot poles as well as the water tank. I have repro poles that don't quite fit exact and we will be camping again later this month. I have some so42 stuff, check my ad for trades. Also have t molding, birch kick panels, mustard yellow covers new and used, large bay camPer tables, old rocket water pump (parts) and of course cash!
Thanks
Eric

Linda Grunthaner wrote: While poking around in the classifieds I see this ad for NOS floor mating in the Netherlands although very expensive wow what a way to complete a Westy, $323. US dollars plus shipping. Do I see this correctly? Is it because it is so expensive that I haven't see a post on it?

That's called kieftenklok-prices which is synonyme with so expensive, so out of reach that it gives a slight hunch they do not want to sell alternative only sell to the stinking rich which ironically is opposite to "FOLKS"-wagen.

My $.02 (no pun intended)

I'm looking for an SO42 type handle which broke in an irritatingly easy way.

Thanks everyone for your help, my seat is all sorted. I bought an original Trekker / Thing windshield hold down bracket from the classifieds, it fits perfectly (thanks Ken) and I got two original rubber bumps (thanks Fred).

I do find it odd that the Thing brackets are the same as the westy brackets, given that the Thing was not being produced until the late 60's, I guess maybe a common part from something else ?

kevm wrote: Hi Everyone,

I am looking for the rear seat bracket and bump stops, currently on my seat I have two of what I believe are SO42 table brackets ? I placed a wanted ad ...

Here's the brackets I currently have on my seat

I will be happy to trade the so42 brackets or buy outright.

Any help gratefully received

Thanks
Kev

Trade my 1967 Westy passengers seat for one child's cot pole (I think I need the smaller one but I'll check). This came out of my 67 Westy, I installed my 66 seats. Can anyone tell me if the 66 is identical to the 67?
No soft spots on the rusty metal.

I'm looking for the cap (it should be plastic, I believe)for the ice box's
water tank for a '66 Westy. Not sure, but some claim it's either metal or plastic--mine didn't come with one...

Response to the last two posts. The 66 seats are the same as 67 to answer your question.

And the cap for the water tank on top of the ice box is metal. It looks like a gas cap. If I had mine here I would shoot a picture for you. Surely there is one somewhere in the gallery.

water tank cap - plastic - off a 67 SO-42

From what I have seen the early (65?) fiberglass tanks have a metal gas cap. The later inca plastic tanks have the plastic fitting. Would love to see some close ups of the plastic connection and cap, I just had inca make me a tank and need to figure the cap part out.

My tank is the plastic one, so I'm going to assume that it needs the plastic cap, like the '67s.

Learn something new everyday. Have never noticed on a 67. But both my 65 and 66 SO-42s have the metal cap that looks like a gas cap.

Mine:

Can't tell from the photo the condition of those seats: But, assuming no rust rot and mechanically both upper and lower are there; they are worth a lot more than a childs cot pole; probably somewhere around $300+

And if you want to contact a friend of mine that is reproducing the child cot poles PM me and I will give you the contact ifor.

Agreed.

My 66' Westy has the fiberglass tank... and it also came with a metal gas cap.

Sorry for the shitty picture, but it was all I had in the Gallery:

I would like to "borrow" some original plaid curtains to use as templates to make my own curtains for my '65 westy project: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=381361&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I have the original plaid fabric and want to fabricate them as close to original as possible. I will be extremely careful with your originals and make sure I return them in exactly the same condition I receive them. And I'll certainly pay for all costs associated with getting them to me and back to you. And pay you if you like (lease them!). I would need them for one week.

I only need the back curtain, one side window curtain, and one side curtain of the cab.

I have a bunch of assorted late westy stuff I can trade.

Thanks for the help.

Took out my original Westfalia wood ceiling last winter. If anyone could use a nice yellowed piece of original baltic birch for that spacer between the icebox and the cargo door...send me a pm. Probably have enough to do four pieces.

Would really like a lead on a lower rear hatch curtain rod for a 66 Westy.
Merry Christmas to you all.
