Is there any way to make Empi-style 5 spoke wheels fit on a late Type 3? I hate 8 spokes and want to find a way to make it work. I've been told that they can't clear the front calipers and that's the reason why they can't fit, either by re-drilling the lug holes or using adapting spacers...

You don't have to get an older pan! just early spindles and 5 lug drums on the front. The rear 5 lug drums will directly interchange with the late ones. If you're interested, I have early drums and spindles for sale if you're interested. they're the early swirl pattern ones, very nice! let me know.
