ok, so I am working on a sandrail who is soon to be street legal. I need to create an e-brake. I ordered what I was told was a complete e-brake handle and all that to go with my rear disks that came w/ cables. What I recived was just taht, a handle. Now I need a mount. Should I cut one out of an old beetle? WHat year? I'm headed to a junkyard where there are a few bugs kicking around. Does anyone have pictures of how you set up yours? It would be extreeemly helpfull

looking forward to ingineuty(sp?)!

From the HamburgerBrad mobile:

I would think all that you need is a tab on each side, with a bolt through the center as a pivot.

Auqa max, thats one beautiful e-brake. Exactly what I was looking for. Do you have any more details on that thing? Did you build, buy, or find it etc?

subybaja, the problem with that, although it was my original plan, is that the ratchet actually engages the mount as well, so just the bolt wouldn't pull it off, and making something that exact out of a tough enough material might just be beyond me (only for now!).

Oh, you meant parking brake!
If Berrien's got them for $20, forget it!

Earl Duty's book How To Build A Dune Buggy explains in detail how to do this setup and has pictures check out a copy.

Ok, I'll go ahead and thake that back. They certainly have expanded that site at berrien. Unfortunatly I had an exceptionally bad experience dealing with Dave, who I belive runs the place, and will try and avoid doing buisness with him. Basicly they screwed up the frame, welded the tranny mount on at the complete wrong angle, and it cost me the expense of getting my frame to a welder, and almost 2 months to arrange it. lost an entire summer vacations worth of work because of it, and he refused to do anything about it. Theres something about living a few hundred miles from the show room that negates my ability to be convincing in his owing me some sort of help....

...I'm not bitter at all....

anyone know of anyone else who sells that bracket pre-fabbed?
