Will the saw horse hinges from home depot or lowes support a VW beetle body by means of 2x4's? I recon it would be a whole lot let work than cutting up all the 4x4s i have at different angles.
Thanks. |

Are you talking about the thin pressed ones that are like $7 ? And are you talking about just the shell? I had a set of the sawhorse hinges used as table legs for my dining room table top which probably weighed about 200 pounds (tiles) it lasted about 5 yrs until I had some aluminum tube legs fab'd. Don't know if I would trust them for a VW thou- I would just cut the 4x4's and lag-bolt them together- You only need to set up your saw for one cut since the legs will be at the same angle...correct? |

Yeah, it'll work, for the shell only. Or shell and pan w/o engine, trans, beam, etc.
I made 18 inch tall saw-horses using the Home Depot kit. |

Yeeah guys its just for the shell while i do floor pan and heaterchannel repair. I bought the 500lbs wieght limit ones from ACE. They cost me $10 bucks. Im going to use pressure treated 2x4's and some secondary support just incase my worst night mare takes place :)
I tried cuttong the 4x4's and 45 degre angles at the bottom so that would be the only cuts i would need, but they are too short the the legs spread out reeeal wide. the saw horses would only raise my car as high as it is right now on the pan. So i think im going to use the saw horse bracket from the hardwarestore, and have a failsafe just incase.
Thanks. |
