You can point it directly at the lens of his bird watcher's system and it will eventually cause the camera to drop pixels. The IR's are not visible to the human eye, but are defiantly visible to the camera. He will probably replace them several times and never realize why they are having this blooming problem. You can aim it by looking at the target through a video camera of your own.

Gee, and I was thinking he should just shoot the things with a BB gun... I must get with the times...

How do you connect the Pringles can to the antenna and what gets broadcast? ... you know, .. just out of theoretical interest... do you have a schematic or is it simpler than I think... you should really put a Westfalia sticker on the Pringles can (available from GoWesty (the sticker I mean, not the Pringles))

Mr. Loogy...i have been considering and SVX conversion using the RJES and only wishing i could find detailed info..and BAM...there it was. In living color no less. I then decided to gather info on an STI conversion...and BAM....there it was, in living color again. I am so impressed with the quality of your design and production and detail (and pictures/documentation) that if I were a woman...well I won't go there...but yea, that's how impressed I am. Beautiful work.

I will be watching intensely and waiting to hear your take on SVX vs STI performance for the Vanagon. Will all the extra fab work on the STI be worth it? That is my biggest question now: performance? Yea, they're both powerful but the ride; what about "the ride"??? You must post some video!!!!! Thanks for all the time it takes to document post this stuff.

In the mean time i'll work on some neighborly things for you to do...

Hi Mr Loogy,

any news...?

Christopher Schimke Sun Aug 26, 2007 8:33 am

Sorry guys, no more news at this point. The kids start school soon and that should free up some time.

Any tips on finding hidden cameras? :D

?Waldo? Sun Aug 26, 2007 9:43 am

Nighttime hidden cameras will have an infra-red light on them. The light is usually not visible with the naked eye unless you are looking directly at it. Many camcorders have a built in night vision. If you looked through one that was such equipped it would show the infra-red light coming from other cameras very dramatically (floodlights).

Did I miss something. What ever happened to this project? First "Lost", now this. I can't stand cliffhangers! :)

Waldemar Sikorski Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:27 pm

Loogy, what is the legality of Dicks cameras depriving you of privacy 24/7?

Christopher Schimke Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:55 am

Unfortunately, things are getting much worse, so we are selling our house and hopefully moving on to a more peaceful way of life in a new location. Once we get settled into a new place, I will definately get back on this project. Thanks for the interest not only in the project, but in our well being. It will all turn out for the better.

That's too bad. Neighbors from Hell are one of the worst things to deal with.

r39o Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:55 am

Now, I too wanna know. Is it really bad neighbors? That bites, if true. But, if true, there may be legal ways to deal with it, I would guess. But, then again I don't know. I know I really don't like it when it impacts the kids. Kids can not thrive in an environment that stresses them. I make it a priority to get along with the neighbors. Good luck, your Samba buddies all feel for you. Now just how feel good mushy is that? It is heartfelt, though.

Hey Loogy,

Sorry to hear about your neighborhood quandary. I hope that you decide to relocate to the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle. You would make a great addition! :D

Without going into any more details, yes to everything you said. Legal methods have only strengthened these peoples desire to be mean and nasty. Life is too short to waste my time playing mind games with some jerk with a chip on his shoulder and unfortunately, there is no ignoring it. Mostly for our kids sake, we have made the choice to move on and hopefully put this behind us.

Thanks for the kind words.

Roger, my wife works on the Eastside, so we will be staying in Redmond. However, I really do appreciate the invite to join your neighborhood. I'm sure we will probably meet up sooner or later anyway.

Have you moved and started working on this beast again?

Williamtaylor33 Sat Aug 06, 2011 5:23 am

Any updates?

Honestly, no new news on the conversion, but not for lack of motivation. Like many of us, life has a way of of dictating what we do with our free time. Combine that with a flourishing small business, a young family and other things and well, this project is on the eternal back burner.

I have not given up, but it is not the current priority.

insyncro Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:39 am

RMW, Benny and others are working on or have completed this conversion.
Not much has been documented as I can tell.

ALIKA T3 Sat Aug 06, 2011 12:01 pm

I never seen these pics yet, very nice pictures and work

Congratulations for the work achieved, and I'll be around to see it once completed :P
