What do you guy's think a nice unrestored set of 5 (yes 5) original rader wheels would sell for. Yes they are the raised centre spoke without centre caps.
Just curious...any opinions? |

Are the spokes cracked, where they are riveted to to outer, steel, rim?
Is the nose cracked, where the cap would mount?
How rusty are the outer rims?
Is the lug nut "circle" cracked anywhere?
These things all have a bearing on what they would be worth.
I got my set of 4 nice ones for free, however, they needed to be restored, but they were un-damaged, as far as cracks and missing aluminum on the cap area goes.
Still, they weren't the cheapest thing to restore, and the one person that I know of that was still restoring them, David Mayes here on the Samba, I heard that he is no longer interested in restoring them, that is was just too much work, for the money he received, or something.
I'm sure the two rader gurus, David and Thornton Smith, will chime in if any of this info is incorrect. |

| They usually sell for $400 to $500 a piece. I've seen sets of 5 for $2,000. |

| Depending on overall condition, I think it can go higher, like $500-$600 each. |

Thanks for the input guys....yes these rims are not cracked, no damage around the cap holes and they are riveted from the outside ring in and only the one rim has a minor wow in the outer ring.
I will try to get some pics of them...the chrome has already been removed via media blast however they have since started to surface rust on the untreated ring...aswell the spokes need to be repolished as their age is showing. |
