my front end sags to one side (the drivers side). as i will be having my car in the air for other reasons i figured i'd take a peek and fix it. could this just be the shocks being old and worn or is it maybe the splines are off from one side to the other? for your info it sags what looks to be about an inch or more. it's very noticeable.

The front splines move in small increments so you might be able to level it by turning just one or two inner or outer spline on one side.

You may need to do the rear too if it's way off like mine was. The rear carries the weight.

Measure the height to the top of the trim on the side and make it level all around :P

thanks for the link. i think your videos give me a general idea of the lowering process on my 68 since it is sorta the same except for the extra steps required with an irs rear end.

I just noticed the other day that my SB sags in the rear (yeah, I guess it hasn't been hitting the gym as much as it could :wink: ). Is it more likely that the splines need to be readjusted or that the shocks are getting worn out? It sags about 2-4 inches (haven't measured yet, just eyeballing it).

It's the springs (torsion rods).

Shocks just dampen the springs action.

Measure the difference from front to rear on the trim or somewhere.

Then see the link above to make the required spline adjustment.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping it would be simpler than that. The video should help me out, but there goes another Saturday afternoon working on my car.

just go lower in the front to match. :twisted:

The front is very easy to do with a floor jack and 30mm wrench.

I would do that, but it only sags on the left side in the rear, possibly the front as well. I'd need to do the fronts as well as the rear right side, which I'd consider; once I figure it out might as well drop it all around a couple of notches.
