I have a 71 bug. I think it is a Super, however, the VIN starts with 111..... Is this correct, or should it be 131.....
The front end does have struts. Any help would be appreciated |

| '71 Super looks like a standard beetle ie. flat windshield etc, but has struts. |

The Typ 13 VIN didn't start until '73. If it has struts, it's a Super.

1971 and 1972 superbugs use the same number series as the standard bugs (111,xxxx,xxx, 112,xxxx,xxx), and as the posters above have said, if it's got a McPherson strut front suspension (and the spare wheel sits flat in the front), it's a superbug.
The separate number series for the superbugs (133,xxxx,xxx) started with the curved screen supers in 1973.
