| It started when I installed an MMATS 500.1 on my two 10's. I've run grounds to the body and to the battery. I've isolated the power wires from the amps to the battery. All are at least 8 gauge. I'm running the "good" Kenwood RCA cables with isolated remote and ground wires. I have the Clarion EQS-560 and have increased the size of the power and ground cables to try to eliminate the noise. The bad problem happened today when I installed a tach. The noise got outrageous. I have not ruled out the possibility of pushing my generator to its limits? But why was the noise bearable before the installation of the tach? Please help... |

I'm assuming the tach signal wire bought signal from the ignition system to the front of the car. I would look a shielding ignition components.
But I'm far from a expert on tunes stuff. |

Think of it this way, The tach wire from the coil is like a very long antenna, and the coil is powering it like an early marconi radio. I would check to make sure that it does not pass near any audo components including speaker wires, and I would look into shielding the wire from front to back. Check with your tach mfg since the impedance of the wire may be an issue for your tach, and you don't want to damage it.

| You may have a ground loop in your system somewhere. I had engine noise carried over the wires from my stereo to the preamp. Installed an isolation transformer, and it did the trick. Radio Shack sells them, and the instructions on the package specifically show how auto stereos can be fixed. It is a little can about 3" long and 1.5" in diameter with RCA in and out wire pairs. |
