View original topic: Who can tell me what I bought ?
Rillo Wed Apr 25, 2007 1:41 pm

I thought that I bought a beetle dash clock, but when I looked well I saw that the pin to turn it up was placed not on the right, but on the underside ( at 6 o clock ) The number stamped on the backside is "AL 151 040" and "8 52 D".
It seems to be original, so could it be a Barndoor DeLuxe clock or maybe from a Porsche 356 ?
Maybe someone can help me out, thanks !

Regards, Rillo

I tried to place some pictures, but don't know how
But I can send you some if you like.

I'm no expert but is the 8/52 the year and month? If so its from a Split beetle or early Samba

is "151" deluxe beetle?

here is a shot of the back of the clock in my '50 beetle...

same "151" but different winder/winder position

You´ve bought a Split Bug clock that has the face wrong way around. Compare the position of the winder to the position of the light bulb. Same as in UZIs clock. If you turn the light bulb downwards where it is supposed to be the winder points correctly towards the navigator's glove box.
