I bought a 74 camper a few months ago and have been getting the engine running well and haven't messed around with any of the interior things. I am wondering how the fridge/sink work. I think my fridge is probably busted but how would I find out? I cant find an on off switch. Does it only get power when the engine is on? same with the sink water pump?

Any good links to older posts or websites for these things?

I also have another 12 volt car battery that I grabbed in the hope of running some sort of dual battery thing for a month long trip to baja I am planning. Any advice/links for setting up something like that?

get the relay kit from Busdepot or german supply.
there are instructions.

thanks a lot for the info. I am debating whether or not is worth spending the money on the kit to find out if the fridge even works. from your guys experience, do these fridges hold up pretty well or is it most likely in need of some work? id also have to buy a deep cycle battery so I am leaning towards yanking it.

I don't have a fridge, but I have my stereo, inside light, sink pump and two cigarrette lighters hooked up.

A must of you want to listen t music while camping.

For $30 or whatever it was it was totally worth it.

From what I know, it is rare for these old fridges to work.

You don't have to have an aux battery for the fridge to work. Just plug it into "shore power". I had a problem with a diode in the power converter. They were still available! If this turns out to be part of your problem I still have 2 of the 4 I bought (had to fulfill a min. order amount). The fridge is very simple. No moving parts that I am aware of. I'm not sure where people are getting their info that these are notoriously unreliable. The fridge does have a fuse. Mine was blown when I got my bus.
