Here are some photos of the construction of the type3 inner cooling fan, thought I'd share them with you guys.

Outer support plate + hardened shim + rivet/spacers (10 mm high)


Hub + rubber mounts

Great! :D I had a problem with my Type 3's cooling fan before. But I already had it fixed. The problem we discovered was that the shim between the cooling fun and pulley was missing. :D

They are rather easy to find most of the time. Any time I've had a bad one, I just scrap it and buy another one.

If you want to rebuild it, MackayManx's brief walkthrough should do it.

living here in south mississippi where all there is is super beetles its kind of hard to find good parts for a type 3 ive found 2 but seeing as the one i pulled off the car is making noise i figured i might as well experiment and see what i can do so far ive drilled out the rivets/spacers to accept a bolt and made bushings out of two different size fuel lines. just finished putting it together and so far so good bushings need a lil tweaking but its solid like i imagine a new one would be!! i will be installing it tomorrow evening to test it

i will be posting my findings when all the tests are done
