That’s the Rio Vista bridge, it spans the Sacramento River. |

It’s a CA car. The previous owner hit a dog, and it sat. Collected parts to fix it but never got around to it. Been sitting since 93. The bridge is the Rio Vista bridge. 45min south out Sacramento. I’m going to get the front end back together. I have a whole apron assembly that I am going to put in because the one that’s in there is crushed pretty good. After that going to pull the motor and re seal it and get it back on the road.

Haha all good. I would’ve done the same. Surprise someone knew what bridge it was. Fun fact, The Rio Vista bridge was designed by Joseph Strauss, the same guy that designed the Golden Gate Bridge. |

Well, after a 25 year hiatus, I’m back in the game. Crazy thing this life! I now own my adolescent dream bug. So giddy I can’t stand it. Do have plans to do stuff. (My previous ride was a full tilt custom 1/91 VW Trends) but absolutely thrilled putting around as stock right now! Love.
My previous ride —->
Can’t wait to learn what I don’t know as an official oval owner now! ♥️ |

I have acquired my first VW after dreaming for nearly 30 years. Late '55 Oval. 2332cc under the deckled makes for a sensory overload drive.
Plan is to keep as is for a little bit, with some minor safety related modifications, and just enjoy the ride. Long term plan is to go for a more traditional Cal Look stance, and keep annoying the neighbours :D

These are a few photos of a 57 we owned in the early 90s, it started out as my wifes daily driver but morphed into a "show car" :roll: . It was orientally Diamond Green and a pretty nice car, well she wanted it Red so had it painted and had the interior re done. After that I really didnt like the car anymore and my wife became afraid to drive it because it was "too nice". Sold it in the mid 90s and often wondered what happened to it after that. The last photo of it on the trailer is when I delivered it to the new owner...

After a 12yr hiatus from the VW community..(seems life gets in the way for a lot of us) I picked up a mess of a '56 in Kentucky and drove it 2 hours back to Indy. It needs help obviously, but for the Midwest relatively rot-free. Evidently it came out of Calif. Would anyone have information.?
VIN reads 1-1055620
