I recently came across and bought a dozen german-brand brake cylinder rebuild kits (each marked #113-698-273). I believe these go to an oval window but I'm not sure. Can anyone verify what year VW's these kits should be used for?

Hi kaferdude,
That would be the 19.05mm wheel brake cylinder kits for post ovals (OCT57 chassi # 1 673 410) up to chassi number 118 328 505 in the 1968 model year. |

I think split style four bolt front wheel cylinders are 19mm as well despite the part number and model year association… |

Hi VDubMattStuart,
Before 1950 they used 15.9mm. 16mm used from chassi # 1-167 890 (1950) thru 1- 397 022 (Oct 52). 17.5mm used from chassi # 1-397 023 thru 1 673 410 (OCT 57). |

Hey Eric&Barb!
I'm pretty sure you are quoting rear cylinders. I'm no expert, but just from my experience with my car I know the front four bolt wheel cylinders were 19mm. That size would probably range from 52-53, maybe a little earlier. |
