Andrew you need to host your photos on a seperate site eg imageshack photbucket etc. Or use your Manx gallery http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/AS0031

I believe the pic was taken around 2002 at Stockton and the driver was the previous owner, Kevin. I know this because I was in the passenger seat when he did that jump.

At least I think I was because I had my eyes closed most of the time

After some long looks at the photos by DL and DB it would seem that they are from different weekends as in DB's photo's the spare wheel is fitted along with what looks to be the old rear bash plate / engine support and in DL's photo's which are of the 1off huge jump neither of these items are fitted which is also verified by the bent rear engine horns in my gararge.

Looking at the landing pic, I have to ask, Did the Ft. fenders get hurt/cracked? I pulled mine off due to clearance probs.

Oz Towdster Fri Aug 31, 2007 3:18 pm

Yeh the R/H one got torn off and the Windscreen cracked from top to bottom.
I also have always had clearance issues with the front wheels to guards and i have only up to now run 14" front wheels and a modified front beam, but as part of the rebuild i am now fitting Australian Country Buggy front stubs which are original droped stubs that are 2 1/2 " lower than standard beetle stub height which i hope will give me plenty of clearance to run 15" front wheels.
And before you all ask , these stubs are like rocking horse shit "rare as"

As promised here are some photos of my new roll cage

# 1 Cage Side View

# 2 Cage Front of Rear

#3 Cage Rear

#4 Rear Engine Horn Braces

#5 Side Chassis Braces

#6 Front Beam Braces

Even though it looks as if the body is no longer removable it still is with the use of what we call Cone locks which on my car are located #1 from the rear stays to the rear chassis and #2 from the overhead lateral stays to the front hoop which enables the rear cage removal and therefore the body from there.

Well i hope you like my design and this goes to helping others with Towds and Towdsters in designing there cages and there are more photos at the below address
Catch you all soon with more progress

Lookin' real stout! Are you going to be able to run the Towd windshield(windscreen  )?

Here is a mod I did on mine to get more storage. It is a Harley batt. in a glassmat. Thanks to Murzi!

I made my underbelly protector run full length. Tied it to the Ft end ro stiffen things up a bit too.

Thanks to Croakin and Mel whom I copied. Just some more ways to play with your Towd

This thing done yet ???

Oz Towdster Sat Sep 28, 2013 5:35 pm

Long time no posts , but plenty of progress

First of all , got rid of the stock beam and mounted up a 6" wider X 10" tower Warrior beam with some TI design 2 1/4 x 1" arms and TI design raised combo spindles

Then got rid of the U bolts , made up some clamps , put some sides in the rear end mounts and cut the shock towers off as they won't be needed where we are heading

Dropped in the Avery's Air Cooled 3 X 3 Arms for a look

Mounted up some Grey Area Technogies Brakes , have got 4 pots on the rear and 2 pots on the fronts

And for the first time in many years wheeled it outside for a look see

From this point we moved the car over to Steel Art Creations shop here in Queensland Australia and got stuck into a fair bit more of the fabricating to ensure all these cool looking parts work to there full potential .

First up was getting that saco rack or positioned up for NO bump steer and a steering column / shaft sorted which was fun at best in the confines of a Tow'd front end

Then we mounted some Jamar pedals , which we're originally bought to be mounted to the floor , but as we would have had to cut up the tub a fair bit and make mounting plates etc it was found that they actually fitted quite nicely upside down as my old pedals were

With the steering and pedals sorted a front bar was fabbed up

And just recently some rear bar work

With all this wild fabrication getting performed there's also a nice big 2387cc Type 1 that is about to be put together too to power this thing coupled to a nice close ratio 5 rib bus box with weddle gears and a 4 spider diff etc etc driven through some SAW axles and 930 cv's .
The wheels are Bruce Meyers signature rims with 195/ 80 / 15 front tyres and 31 x 10.5 / 15 rears .
Shocks are 10" fox emulsion fronts and 12" fox emulsion rears with the rears mounted at the tops just behind the double main hoops , which were all set up to get that ultimate 90 deg at full bump and with the cycling of the suspension we are getting around 12" travel at all 4 wheels
Will try and keep my posts more up to date in the comming months as we get the worlds craziest tow'd finally back on the road

Andrew
