Was out and about for some local pleasure driving with Doug the '60 Bug, following mounting up my oddball 13-inch wheels & tires set (ref: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=775597&highlight= ), facilitated by some 5-to-4 adapters. Stopped for some gas at good old "Trav's Mobil," corner of Route 1 and River Street, in Guilford, CT, Monday afternoon, February 26th, 2024.

Saw this on one of those "Drivers are Idiots " TV shows. The guy in the bay window single cab wide bed drives off with the hose still in the bus and proceeds to pull the pump out if the ground and catch fire. Filmed somewhere not in the US.

^ Good shot, Zund.
The gas station building appears to be one of the "Pure Oil" brand. Thus the letter "P" on the chimney. My good friend Greg (63vwdriver) explained to me that this brand wanted to build their stations to resemble small homes, to "personalize" the station (more trusting surroundings like a small family home) instead of the more modern industrial style stations which were becoming prevalent. There's a similarly styled building not far from me along Rt 17 in Sloatsburg, New York (just north of the New Jersey border) which he saw during a business trip to my area over 10 years ago, though it's no longer a gas station. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.1548238,-74.193305...?entry=ttu |

It’s all part of a larger display along Route 66 in a place called Red Fork Oklahoma. Recent construction but folks that know appreciate the attention to detail. |
