Did any of you ask the VWoA execs why ACVW community is shunned? Did any of you push to have VWoA license reproduction parts, or tell them there is a large demand for quality parts out there that VWoA should support the ACVW community, or were you all just dazzled by the suits and smooched their collective asses in unison?

The ACVW shunning comes from Germany and not particularly from VWoA.

The VP's in Detroit know how much they are hated, but when asked flat out why they would be so agressive, they would not offer any answer except that they were following directions from Germany.

I was the only person to ever address the licensing issues, and a few of the guys from the club seemed uncomfortable with me addressing these issues. The Club leaders either had already addressed these concerns, or don't care. Mid America is a major sponsor of our events, and VW points to them as an authorized seller of VW goods.

Then the club shouldn't have patronized the event. Then again, that's just me.

Has anyone heard any news when VWoA is starting the hiring process?
Or when they will be in the NoVa area?

I just got RIF'd and would like to submit a resume.

You must not be aware of the stellar product VW used to assemble in Pennsylvania, back in the late-1970's.

in my poinion they should save there money on those stupid "deiter" tv adds and worry about making a better car.....new beetles JUNK....new rabbits and there other throw back cars not much better! the only thing that even was keeping vw alive in the states is the ACVW's!! total opinion of my own but i don't think i would ever buy a "new" vw they don't have the class or style of an origional bug, ghia even bus! plus when you have a company going after everyone and there brother for using the vw logo that is stupid! how bad is it that a splitty bus has to have it vw emblem blacked out in hot vw's! honestly the company dug it's own grave when they sent the headhunters(lawyers) after the people keeping there name alive!!!!!

Didn't own a late 70's, but had a great time in my 84 GTI, made in Pennsylvania.

I was just saying that there's a recently vacated auto plant here.

Oklahoma City has a vacant GM plant. Our rednecks can build cars just as good as your rednecks.

I bought a '82 VW Rabbit as a dealer demo in '83.
Great car, I put 47,000 miles on it the first year I owned it.
I never understood the whole "trash the american rabbit attitude".

I have a pretty stellar 81 Westmoreland, Pa. Rabbit Diesel...what's funny is that the MK1 people call them Westies too...kinda confusing at first...

Okay, I'll say since no one else has: think Mario sees this as a new goldmine potential? VWOA and Mario Gavazzi seem to deserve each other.
