Good Luck Seth, I have followed this thread from the beginning and really enjoyed the pictures, I really was happy that you kept the OG paint....hope the new owner will too.

Well, this week has seen the end of an era- The lowlight has left for its new home near Milan and I know the new owner is going to treasure her almost as much as I have- He is a keen enthusiast with an envialble stable of cars! Check out the hotheadsgarage and maybe you will see my beloved lowlight enjoying its new life in the sun!

I am hoping this will be a little quicker than the Ghia and I have got parts arriving already!! She's a 1963 walkthrough split 11 window microbus- OG paint again and a similar treatment for the suspension! :wink: Have fun fellow Ghia heads- I will be sure to check in on all my good friends on a regular basis and will definitely be back when funds allow! 8)

Hi everyone! I'm a friend of the new owner, and I work at the HotHeads garage here in Milan ( our most famous beetles are: sunlike bug, deep passion gasser and Nice Little car gasser, all have been to some european bug in events )... and all I have to say is : this ghia is superb!

If Seth it's ok, I would like to continue the story of this car, here on the same post. My English is not very good and I think I'll post more news on our blog ( [http://www.hotheadsgarage.blogspot.com)
but the major works will be posted also here...

for first I can say that this morning we spent a couple of hours trying to make the rear hood spring works...the problem was that the spring were touching the carburetor filters...

So Fabio decided to modify them, he cutted two centimetres per spring, and then welded again the part that fits into the hood...et-voila, now they're working!

We have a problem with the turn lights Seth...sometimes only works the rear one, but if we press down to the turn lever then it works also the front one...maybe a wrong contact on the lever?

And also the washer for the windshield, is not working...little things that fabio will check meanwhile we are waiting for the italian plates...
Italian plates that will be horrible...we cannot modify or ask for an "older style version", so they're going to be big, white and blue... :( :(
But there's no other way

Hi guys, I have a question for you about installing these quarter windows. My '59 it seems like it had screws that originally went under the chromed pieces, but most of them are long gone. Do the chromed strips slide back on the screws when you push the window back? Or did the previous owner try to install pop out windows?

The screws should be there- they hold the chrome trim in place- I think the process for installing the windows is detailed around page 14 - 15???

I took a look at it today, but unfortunately some of the screws are missing. Does anyone know if they are the small flat head ones? Thankfully, I have enough to do one side at least. When you installed the chrome pieces did they slide back on the screws? I'd like to say that this thread has been so helpful in my own build, many thanks for the excellent pictures.

Hi, thanks for the kind words- yes they are the small flat head screws that you need- the screws are installed first and the chrome trim slides over the top- Hope it helps.

Hi everyone! Updates on this beautiful ghia are coming soon.
We finally get the new ( horrible ) italian plates and in two weeks we'll start to prepare the ghia for the hot rod & custom show.
We got new cromed bumpers and a black interior is coming...then some mechanical things to do and we're on the road. I'll post everything here...

First step...new bumpers! They will remain without guards

At the moment we're building hand made the brackets and side spacers, because they're pretty expensive...

And here you can see how big the rear plate is. Maybe the rear is not very bad, but the front is also big as the rear, and we don't know where to put it.
