Hey Greg, Thanks for all the info, but the guy screwed me on Friday. After I wired him 5K in the morning he called and said someone offered him 3K more for the bus. I could meet him in the middle at an additional $1500 or he could send me my money back and give me $500 for giving me the run around. I wasnt willing to pay him more after we already had a deal and he accepted my offer and collected the more than generous $5k deposit.
It is true.. Jeff, the guy with this quote, nailed it. The only thing he left out was I was supposed to have all my money the day he gave me the deposit. He said I had to wait another week for the remainder..That wasn't the original deal..Minor details..I think meeting in the middle was more than fair. Also giving him $500 for his troubles is more than fair. I didn't have to offer any of that..Why Mr. Greg Banfill feels the need to involve the Samba in this stupid BS shows me what kinda drama queen he is...
...and how greedy people suck, raping vintage Volkswagens one at a time?? :? |

So you must be the guy that offered $3000 more for after the seller already made a deal (and took a $5000 deposit) with someone else?
That whole deal says a lot about the seller and you.

how come the EBAY auction says $1000 due within 48 hours of auction ending then? seems like $5000 within 48 hours is even better. But what do I know? I still like bay window buses... |

It sounds like the deal was struck, the deposit was paid, and deal was solid.
After that I'd say someone put a $3000 price-tag on their integrity, and someone else is the poster child for the "Me" generation. |

What it sounds like is a bunch of bored ass people looking to throw their ten cents into a topic that they have no reason too.
IT'S OVER, MOVE ON. Nobody died or lost anything , especially their integrity. If you don't know the parties involved then keep your nose out of it. And to the gentlemen who originally gave a deposit on the bus, "PAID IN FULL" beats a $5000.00 deposit everytime. I didn't start this bitch fest for you girls to air your frustration , but sorry it went the other way. Move on, if possible. =; |

| Fact is the original buyer worked a back door deal. If the auction would have gone like it was supposed to he probably would have lost it anyway. Mike was a serious buyer and was ready to step up! Sad part is, if it would have gone the other way you guys wouldn't be complaining, stepping up for Dubdawg. 16k is a low ball deal for a truck that has that many man hours to build it. Thankfully, Kevin thought about it and realized that it was the wrong number. As for him! I think putting $500 bucks on top of the deposit was a kind gesture. If you were him would you turn down the extra cash! If you say no your lying! |

Well I'm glad you used your second thought to open your mouth about a topic that you didn't have a right or reason to address. Last time I checked there was no "Buy It Now'" on this auction. I would have won the auction any how so let's get our "Big Boy Pants" on and stop worrying about the trivial problems of no concern in your otherwise trivial evening. The Tripple Cab is coming to Florida and there is nothing left to do but look for it in your upcoming VW Magazine publications. Integrity in tact, and a good night sleep with no lost sleep. You might try it. I DON'T BUY, BUILD OR DRIVE MY VW'S FOR YOUR SATISFACTION OR APPROVAL. I'M OUT!!!!!!!!! :D  :!: |

I don't understand. The deal was struck. Both parties agreed. Whether he got more money or not is immaterial. He broke his word.
And no, I wouldn't have done it. My word is worth more than money. Then again, I'm probably from a different generation.
What you fail to understand is that a man's integrity is one of the very few things in life that he has to give away. No one can take it. He sold his for $3000. Pretty cheap I'd say.
If this is a foreign concept to you, then I've just wasted my time. It doesn't have to be explained to anyone whose word means anything. |

Integrity is nonexistent. A man's word is a man's word. It sounds as though you live your life for your own approval. That's fine. Just don't try to represent yourself as having integrity, because it's obvious you don't. |

Well I'll let you know something partner, when it comes time for me to become an adult with a "MAN'S WORD" you'll be the first person I call to make sure I'm doing it to your approval. You don't know me from Adam so you can stop judging me. I didn't twist anyone's arm to purchase this bus. I didn't sell my soul or lose my integrity or what ever helps you feel better about your self. I've been in the same predicament as the buyer and I believe I have appologized if I did anything wrong and he is the only one who has not addreesed me directly. So until that happens , this bores me. |

WORD.
I think the general consensus is that the SELLER did a pretty rotten thing. People always make offers to end an auction early on eBay. But to make a deal, take money only to take another offer after the fact to get an extra 3k is really bad business IMO. YES, integrity is pretty suspect at that point. |

Sounds like the original buyer didn't keep his word... If the seller would have gotten full payment as promised, I doubt the bus would have been sold to buyer #2.
What do you do when the guy who says hes going to give you 17k doesn't come through, and you have another guy offering 20K? :-k |
