Looks sweet! Seems like your trailer is the same size as mine. Does CSP still sell complete disc brake kits for 14 inches stock bus rims? Do you have problem with surge brake jolting the bus when pulling? My bus is running on 1641 with stock 34/3 carb. I am not sure if a dual carbs will give better performance or swap to a 1776. Got photos of the interior?
Yes, Csp does a front disc kit (Called the 14 inch kit) that enables you to still be able to use your stock 14" or 15" bus rims. I do`n`t think they make one for the rear, but I`m not certain on this. :) |

I am sure it will just tow fine. Mine is a 335/4. Larger size but should be ok after I do the modification on the bus. I wondered how many Westfalia caravan are left in the world. I also have not seen another Westfalia caravan with original tent like mine. Would be interested to see if someone who owns a caravan with original westy tent. |

So the question for me is can a 67 bus with a 1776 engine tow a wax weight 1500 pop up trailer with 155lb tongue weight? I'm interested in camping with my bus and have found a pop up called Quicksilver8.0 . I would like to tow it with my 67 bus. When I go to show there is always camping the night before and I'm tired of getting up from the floor of a tent. Any information would be appriciated |

That's pretty dang heavy in my opinion but it should pull it power wise. It's the hitch that you'd hook it up with that would concern me. A '67 Westy hitch would be at the ragged edge of its rating. |

Hi,
Yes you can, I have towed Eriba Familia with my 1970 Westfalia bus running on 1700 CC engine and it did fine. I do not think it would be a problem for 1967 bus towing 1500 pounds. As long you have good disc brakes and strong torque engine. You are off to enjoy camping in the trailer. :) |

Sorry to hear about Rolf. He is a nice guy who gave me advises about my former Westfalia caravan. May I ask how old was he and cause of his death? He appears to be in the mid 40's when He send me a picture of himself with his wife or girlfriend. I think he is in Facebook as well. RIP Rolf! |

right, he did... Rolf had 3 kids, triplets !! only 2 days after he died, I opened a Topic here, on the Samba, BUT they ALL got removed... I opened it in the Baywindow forum, but also in the Split and Barndoor forum, but I was not allowed to do that ;-((( so they put my topic in 'general', where nearly NOBODY noticed that!!! in all these years on the Samba, I NEVER went to the 'general chat' topics... I contacted the administrator to ask if it was possible to put it back, but the answer was NO... so my condolances to Rolf and his family only got 1 or 2 replies, while my intention was, by putting it in the different forums, to let ANYONE know he died, Rolf was known by people who drove splits, bays, barns, trailers, caravans,...
ROLF will be missed!!

I had quite a few business dealings with Rolf. He was friendly, pleasant, understanding and fair. He loved his VWs. He will be missed. |

Hi, realise this is an old post but was searching for posts on Westies. I've owned one for 18 yrs, bought from Holland in need of total resto (although interior wood is in super condition). It's the 310/4 model. Contemplating selling it for the last few years as house restoration and growing family has been eating up my time, but I'm in Northern Ireland, so although a few people have expressed interest, I think the ferry costs is too much, so now considering taking the bull by the horns and doing it (after all, my split was a shed when I got it and did that myself).
My query is has anyone done a body off resto to one, as the chassis needs a total rub down and paint and it'd be so much easier with the body off. Also, is there anywhere who makes repro parts for them? - badges, lights, seals etc...?
Any help appreciated.
