There could be several reasons for it not blowing as well as it used to.

Are the foam seals in the heat exchange box in good shape?

Is the fan switch working properly? i.e. does the motor sound like it's operating at 3 different speeds?

Hopefully the fan resistor is working ok.

Did you get all the ducting back on correctly?

If the polarity is reversed to the motor, it will spin the other direction.

It's a foggy memory, but I recall having to deal with a connector on the new fan motor, not being the same as the one I pulled out. Was that the case with yours?

Neil.

On the original motors the leads plugged right into spades on the motor itself and it would be difficult to install the leads incorrectly. While on at least some of the replacement motors there is a short pigtail with two male spades that require some rewiring. It is important to get the polarity right as the motor is a permanent magnet design and will run in reverse if wired wrong.

Don't want to pull the dash again? I don't blame you.

I think that you would be okay to remove the power lead from the switch and hook a ground into the switch instead. Then take the ground wire going into the unit and hook it up to the original power wire.

The system should operate normal, the switch would now just be on the ground side instead of the hot side. I don't see any problem with that.
