I believe that was made to fit volkswagens by an independant company.

I believe that was made to fit volkswagens by an independant company.

They were offered by VW dealerships in the late '50s here in OZ,

There was a guy at a local show a few years ago that had a vintage cooler that looked like a big canoe.
Does anyone remember what brand they were ?

Those remind me of "airline" coolers. They were used on airplanes, as I understand it.. They were stolen by employees, I am told.

I like the one I own as it is nice and small and can be easily stowed.

My style is different, and is an airline cooler, for sure. Not sure, but I think those ones shwon are airline ones too.

The Coca-Cola "Airline Cooler" you talked about was shaped more like a suitcase. (long and narrow) The top lid was hinged on one side and flipped open. I'm restoring one now. I was told they were used by stewardess bringing Coke on the planes. (they werent for sale) I guess it was another Advertising advantage for the Coca-Cola Company to have customers see that on planes.
The Coca-Cola 6pack small cooler is my top pick as well. (but not as a repro) I have an NOS one I've displayed with my cars over the years. :D

Here’s the airline cooler ,I have one as well. The rarest version is again the all stainless steel version which is even rarer then the 6-pack stainless steal version. Unfortunately I don’t have a stainless airline cooler. There is a great book by the VW Bus guy Jeff Walters called “The Complete Guide to Collectible Picnic Coolers & Ice Chests”, I highly suggest it, great book for seeing all the different kinds of coolers and information about when they were made. Walters also wrote the same style of book about soda machines which is just as good.
