I don't think a roof rack belongs on a Ghia. It give it too much of a family car look when their supposed to have a sports car look. I do however think a small rear deck luggage rack looks OK.

In case you haul bikes and don't want to fiddle with taking a regular rack on and off of your Ghia, check out SeaSucker.

They are a little spendy, but work really well and are super fast and easy to install and remove. The best part? Nobody will be able to steal them off of the roof of your Ghia at a trailhead because they'll be locked in the boot, out of sight. The added bonus is that it takes your bike(s) out of the wind a lot more than a conventional roof rack.

Roof racks look better with some color schemes than others for some reason. We have a couple of vehicles that are experts in hauling stuff, so it's something that I rarely ask the Ghia to do. The one time I did use the Ghia for hauling, it was for audio gear which I could not have put on the roof anyways. I would have to say they look ok depending on the Ghia itself, but I prefer rear luggage racks.

I think the roof rack belongs on a bug not a Ghia. Takes away from the shape of the the car. The rear luggage rack I think is a nice touch. I wouldn't do it on either the roof or the luggage.

But every now and then you see one that it looks good on a Ghia. I have a roof rack on my 65 bug and I get more comments on it than the car LOL.

Well, not so much as the whole back of the car. Was thinking of something that would emulate the rear fender shape. Maybe I'll just go with a long teardrop and match the top arc of the fender...

Seems like half the pictures show the roof rack mounted with the more curved end facing forward, and the other half with it facing to the rear.
Which is the "correct" orientation?

I'm guessing curved end forward, but that's not based on any knowledge or expertise whatsoever (as is most everything that I say :oops: ).
