You mean the early Hella turn signals that were also used on the Messerschmitt... yeah, your right, looks like it. The ones on that Messerschmitt have what we use to refer to as puffs, as I’ve come across them on Volkswagens, they are not a factory install. The ones on that split have the slim profile type, normally associated with Volkswagens.

That's an interesting photo for me, as I have a June 51 Standard model, which was issued to the British Army at 151, Vehicle Coy, Lipstadt, and according to the early UK log book I have, it was formerly registered in Germany as 5419 BZ, with the BZ on the number plate standing for British Zone. As the car in the photo seems to be around the same age, but evidently has an earlier registration number, I wonder if this means that my ex Army car was first registered with the Army, and then sold off, and 1st civilian registered in Germany, before coming to the UK in 1958? Is the history of the photo/car/people known?
