what was it then bb? looks quite spartan - could be a pre-war car or small commercial vehicle...
one for the 'let's play wtf is that?' section

one for the 'let's play wtf is that?' section My guess is it's the suicide-hinged passenger door of a Tempo van or 3-wheeler, but not the VW-engined Matador. Small "fillet" at lower front edge of window instead of a straight lower edge is another clue. The Gutbrod Atlas van had a similar door design but it had a larger radius gradual curve down and back at the leading edge.

Peter Thorndyke's father in the trunk? Thinking about "The Love Bug" movie scene where Herbie knocks against the log, and Thorndyke disappears into the trunk.

License plate is not German nor Austrian... Too many mountains for Netherlands though could be visiting. Maybe Scandinavian? Swedish driving regulations would be RHD in early '50's which would conflict with the inner mirror being angled to left side of car for a LHD. And if the Swedish plates already had the font which was very similar to the post '56 German plates, these letters are too "narrow".

Looks like it's just the door in the photo.

Sorry about that!

^ ^ Big dude on left reminds me of a younger...

(actor Richard Kiel, RIP, best known for James Bond villain "Jaws")
