View original topic: Is Synchromesh Gear Oil equal to GL-4?

I haven't found GL4 oil yet, but I did find some bottles that were labeled "Synchromesh Gear Oil". There was no GL5 or GL anything label anywhere on the bottle (made by penzoil or some such large company), but the text indicated it was good for boxes that used brass, copper, and "yellow metals". That sounds vaguely correct.... is it for sure, or shall I keep searching until I see the GL4 on the label?

Personally, I'd wait until you find the Sta Lube GL-4 or order some of the rediline or amsoil on line. It would scare me to put anything in there that could make my synchros wear out.
