Last night's dump. Snow Bowl is open for skiing!

prAna Tue Dec 11, 2007 11:25 am

Nice to see Snowbowl open!!

I'm waiting for someone on this board from Crested Butte to post pictures of their 65" four day storm from last week.

Nice picture DP. That's exactly what mine looked like this morning (except for that gas filler location) .

Oh yeah, and the fact that I couldn't get up the hill to my house last night didn't do anything to decrease my Syncro lust.

 We just got a light dusting and then back into the 50's. We were suppose to get 4"-6" at least. It all went your way.

Here in NY we call that "Spring"

Dogpilot Tue Dec 11, 2007 4:35 pm

Yes but living on the edge of the ice sheet, that is normal. This was aimed more at folks who think we never get snow up here.

BTW, wasn't summer on a thursday last year up there?

floggingmolly Tue Dec 11, 2007 5:15 pm

I miss snow. :(

Guess my 2 week trip to PA and CT this year will have to suffice. Then over to DP's place to talk geology in to snow. Isn't it hard to see the outcrops when it snows?

Nothing but rain and cold in 'Burque where I am now, but the Sandia are white to the base, heard of 4" up north at my house, and Taos Ski Valley reports 54" over the last 5 days for a 67" base. Nice. They don't even open until Friday.

swmontana Tue Dec 11, 2007 5:52 pm

Looks good to me, DogP, we're skiing on rocks and sticks up here. Only a 40 inch base locally.

Hoorya for Taos- Some of the business owners were bracing for no snow season at all. It's been snowy here in Spokane, WA for the last week. I don't ski, so it's just pretty.

My Gazebo caved in last night...

Wow

We haven't gotten any real snow in the Big Crapple yet this year....which is a good thing.

We got a good one two years ago. But nothing much since.

Here's my upstairs porch - in Kolbotn (near Oslo).

My Back...! At least the driveway's clear.

Actually we have lost a Snowboarder on the mountain, missing since yesterday. Off trail skiing, that's a new one. With 4' falling last night up there and another 4' today, I suspect he will turn up in the springtime.

Oh well, good skiing tomorrow. Then off to D.C. followed by a trip to Haiti.

captainpartytime Mon Jan 07, 2008 5:14 pm

I used to work for the sheriff's dept. search and rescue team in Flagstaff. 9 times out of 10 we would search the mountain all night just to find the snowboarder hitched a ride home and passed out drunk outside Flag Brewing Company!

Ah...winter...yay.

thirdman Mon Jan 07, 2008 8:07 pm

Heh, you think you've got it tough? Today was sunny and warm with a high of 76F. What fun is winter with weather like this?

?Waldo? Mon Jan 07, 2008 8:26 pm

I don't think I have it tough. I think I have it great. Love the snow. Shoveled a bit, put on tire chains and had a ball. :D
