Due to some strange tax thing the DC's imported to Finland had to have a so called " temporary bench"... Not any thing like the frames posted above... Just a hinged plywood bench with some vinyl cover... :roll:

Ok. So here's a few pics:

(The yellow is just foam that the previous owner had glued to the original Vinyl when he had "reupholstered" the seats with the horrific green cloth seen on the seat... :roll: )

Can someone reload these pics showing how the pedestal is mounted. I am trying to remount my rear seat pedestal like it was originally.

How long are the carriage bolts for a 1963 seat base? M8 x ???

The FAQ thread above says M8x25

I don't specifically know about 1963 but the original bolts I have, year unknown, are 30mm total length, 25mm not including the head.

Is that considered M8x25 or M8x30 ?

M8x25. Bolts are measured from the bottom of the head to the end.

I've gathered what I think is the correct hardware for the rear seat base for my 1963 DC. The hold downs are identical to fuel tank hold downs except for the hole.

The washers that were on the bus when we got it are DIN 9021 fender washers. I wonder if there is a lock washer or spring washer too?

As was mentioned, the bolts are M8 x 25.

I don't know and as far as I can tell they are not listed in the Bus parts book for some reason.

I feel like VW would have used spring washers here, if something else was used.
