new to the slammed look have a 67 with a shortened 6" beam read in a couple of threads about people flipping them can somebody please explain the benefit to doing this.

When lowering the front, the tie rods become excessively angled, the drivers side(long rod)comes very close to hitting the gas tank (depending on how low you've gone)
Flipping them helps to correct the geometry by repositioning them to a straighter plane and allowing ample travel between the long rod and the tank

What exactly is involved? Is new hardware required? The tie-rod to spindle is a tapered fit...right? You can't just "flip it", can you?

Anyone have a pic?

buy the sleeve kit about $20.00. yes, its tapered... You need a new 5/8 drill bit maybe 2 of them about $15.00 each... just a tip, you can do this still on the car using a 1/2 electric drill with a 5/8 bit; use water as you drill to keep the tip cool and stay as staright as possible in line when drilling...its a tight fit. If you hole gets a little sloppy use shims such as a feeler gauge to make the slleve fit tight..In a nut shell -drill out the eye on the spindle, place the sleeves (kit) in from the bottom...Then (flip) your tie rod end into the spindle from the bottom. Done

Or............Just do what I did for free
Taper the underside with a dremel or chamfered bit..
It doesn't take much, so just do a little at a time and keep checking fit with the tie rod end..
I had the dremel set on low speed and never generated any more heat than a hot So. Cal summer day 8)
