davevickery had one of those driveshafts and had all kinds of problems balancing it. It's in the archives somewhere.

I also had bad vibration problem with a shaft i bought from them. I returned it and am now running the gowesty donutless shaft and am happy with it. I recommend it

Same here...I got the GoWesty one on sale and with GoBucks, ended up spending about $145 on it IIRC. I've been happy with it.

			| I've been watching this thread since 2008 (my van had 130k back then). At 190k miles my driveline was still totally quiet,
and while the miles are marching upward.... I have been leery of disturbing it.

I was gearing up to do what handjammer did here, with the grease-able u-joint then stopped short and decided to indulge a little.

So just for the sake of Vanagon Science I drilled the 8 bearing cups and pumped fresh grease in.
Seven cups belched out their old black grease readily, but one cup did not.
 Just new grease came out.
Like it was frozen or something.

So I just drove it a bit (like 1,000 miles??) and tried again, and #8 cup then complied, belching out its old grease.
Not sure what might be in cup #8....
but now I have all 8 cups with fresh grease at 205,000 miles
and it's still quiet and smooth.

I should have done this years ago but I didn't know about drilling bearing caps and carbide drill bits etc.

Anyway I've heard from others about not wanting to wake up a quiet driveshaft, so here's an option to minimize the distrurbance yet renew the grease.
Other thread has lots of pics and discussion: Syncro - Needle grease original driveshaft u-joints

For years I was unable to find info about the Guibo.
And I was calling it a g’we bo.
It’s spelled Giubo and pronounced Ju-bo

Anyway if you spell it correctly there's more info, such as that published by our illustrious Samba member Sir Hairybreeks.

Giubo end of Vanagon syncro propshaft
