I have a 68 dbl cab and want to get disc brakes up front and lower the beam a bit. I was reading somewhere, in this forum, or some other blog, about a shop in Paramount CA that will do the work for under $ 800.00. What caught my attention was the fact it was a complete job. Roll in and roll out. I failed to write down the guys name. Is anyone out there familiar with this shop ?
Thanks for you help.

68-69.5 narrow bolt pattern on the bottom +6.4560"+
69.5-----_ wide bolt pattern on the bottom +8.1250"+
70---- the beam got narrowed. Some early 70's got the wide 69 beam that required factory made shims. No brake booster mounting plate.
71-79 beams are the same. There where changes to the spindles and disc brakes
The Spindles and Disc brake changes are as fallows.
71-72 used 12mm caliper mounting bolts and thin pads.
73-79 used 14mm caliper mounting bolts and thick pads. Pads are the same dimensions, just thicker.

I will mention that he needs to see if he has the "Y" frame forks introduced in the 1970 model year, that is why they changed the beam mounting spacing.

211 401 061 K 68 to the end of 69.
211 401 061 M 70 and up. For 71 and up with power brakes, you need to also get 211 401 213 mounting.
211 401 061 N Then VW subbed the beam for 70 to the end of 79. Comes with the servo bracket already installed.
