It's rust-oleum painter touch 2X ultra cover paint. It says paint and primer on the can although I did primer everything too. I put atleast 3 coats on most all of it. Really came out nice looking.

Kim, you’re engine looks great, my 2yold daughter would go crazy if she saw it she love, cars and those are her two favorite colors :0)

Just and FYI, if your manifold heat risers do not burn off all the pink paint until it looks flat white/gray then it is not working properly and your bus will not run as well as it should…

On the heat risers I knew they would burn the paint off. That is one of the things I did forget to check before installing though. I was thinking they were clear because I remember cleaning them out a while back, but after thinking about it, it was the single port we cleaned out. So far the paint is just turning color at the point it is hooked to the exhaust and up about 2- 2.5 inches up. That will be a project for later down the road. Next time we have to pull the engine I will check them. I was told if they were plugged, it wouldn't warm the carb up as fast and cause issues with the warm up. After running for a bit it would run ok with them clogged. Maybe I was misinformed? At any case, it seems to run good and only takes about 3 or 4 minutes to warm up enough to idle on its own. I think my carb isn't the greatest either though so that may be part of why it won't idle from the jump. I bought a new one and am waiting for a friend to come and install it and dial it in. I don't like doing the dialing in part. :)

Re: I was misinformed?, sorry but I think yes, due to the long intake run and the effects of vaporizing the fuel, the intake manifold can get cold even on a hot day; that may cause pour fuel mixture and could cause engine damage (my understanding is that it may cause it to run too lean(lose power and /or get to hot) and/or have un-atomized fuel droplets dilute the oil film on the cylinder walls= faster Ring/cylinder wear) (un-atomized fuel droplets, same reason why you want them working when it is started from cold)

LOL never thought of doing that. I just bought another oil bath at a wrecking yard, think I'll give that a try and see what it looks like! :)

Did a search and did not find what I was looking for. Has anyone installed a type IV engine into an early Bay (68-71)? Is there a thread about it?
I have 2.0 and 6 rib transmission from a 78 bus and a friend of mine sold me a slew of Raby parts, upright fan housing, etc. and have been toying with the idea of installing it in my 68 Westy.
Thoughts?

Yes it has been done. Raby even produced a mustache bar for that conversion. I'll be doing the same with my '69 SC. My only concern is the mid point/rear tranny hanger that is not present in early bays. This just leaves the front tranny and mustache bar mounts.

My thought would be to weld in the transmission hanger. Because both components are heavier. But I'm guessing the engine support can still hold it. I'm curious as well.

The conversion Jake did on the pickup didn't use a middle mount. He cited that a 914 doesn't use one either and came that way from the factory.
