Sent him $100 for a carb and manifold advertised on here, he cashed my check on January 11 but never contacted me or anything. I emailed him several times after giving a couple weeks to allow for shipping. He claims it didn't ship because the ship to address was illegible, but it was being re-shipped, this time with tracking number.
Never received a tracking number, wouldn't respond to emails. He finally posted yet another ad, for a vehicle this time, with his phone number. I called him about what was going on, he claimed the tracking number was at his office and he'd get it to me (this was on February 22, several weeks after he claimed he had re-shipped).
Still no contact, no tracking number, will not accept my phone calls now, will not return emails.
Basically just stole $100 from me. That's what I get for trusting someone enough to send them a check, paypal only from now on, even though they're a bunch of thieving bastards too, at least I can contest/retract a payment if a seller screws me.
He's still got a bunch of stuff up for sale.

Thanks, please let me know what his response is. In the meantime, a local dubber has given me a 34 pict set up, so it's now a matter of principle, not the parts. I'd rather have my money back. |

Did you send him the check via US mail and to an actual street address? If so, you have something to go on and should consider contacting law enforcement in his area and filing a report. They may send you back to your local agency but might be worth a shot. |

Yes, check sent to his home address. Not sure how much help I'd get, but I'd be willing to contact them and see what will happen. In the grand scheme of things it's not much money, but, I have to listen to my wife bitch at me for trusting someone, so there's going to be some pay back for that! |

Sorry to hear about you got ripped. Never send a check of any kind, use a Postal m/o.....if they case that & don't complete the transaction it becomes a Federal matter.
In your case it's nothing a couple of minutes with a baseball bat wouldn't take care of. A pair of smashed kneecaps & 2 broken hands would do him nice. |

I would prefer the courtesy of being told I"m being screwed, so I could get on with the business of getting the parts from someone else. I hate just being left hanging.
Sad that some people's integrity isn't worth $100 to them. |

Another word of caution, this guy is promoting himself in the Maryland/DC area as a business "German Garage" phone: 240-672-7983, came across the ad on Craigslist (listing deleted by CL)
He's on several car sites

Finally got a response from him. He's intentionally not shipping the stuff because he feels I sent him a rude email back in Feb. after learning the parts had been sitting at the post office for a few weeks with a bad shipping label.
His claim that he shipped the parts again, and had a tracking number, was evidently a lie. When he told me he had the tracking number at his office, and that he'd send it to me, that was also a lie.
And he wonders why I'm being rude.
Yes, I get pissed off when someone takes my money and doesn't hold up their end of the deal. I'm about as easy going as it comes, I even told him he could ship it cheap or whatever, no rush because my car is still a project. 2 months and really poor communication adds up to me not being a happy camper. |

Report him to the Postmaster for postal fraud. Then you'll see how his attitude changes. Take copies of all e-mails to the Postmaster for the report. Go to your local post office and the people there can explain how to file a report. |

I appreciate the effort you put into trying to keep scammers off of your site. It is sad that a person like this considers themselves a part of the VW community. For the past 10 years I have been pretty actively involved in modifying watercooled VWs, and have met many people that went above and beyond for other dubbers. Since getting my Ghia a few months back I have met scores of local dubbers that have given me parts, given me advice, given me their driveways and their help on the weekends.
It is a shame that this person is trying to market themselves as a resource for the VW community.
And no, they haven't contacted me as a result of your contacting them. They are still unresponsive to my emails asking for any information. They are still obviously selling things so the excuse of not making a special trip to the post office for me doesn't hold water. There really is no excuse.
I don't understand how a person can give up integrity and honor for a lousy $100. It is such a foreign concept to me not to uphold your end of a bargain. |

Sounds like he found a conscience a few months back, emailed me to tell me that he was wrong, I had paid money for the item and he should send it to me.
Fortunately I did not hold my breath.
In the meantime I have moved to a new town, sold the Ghia, bla bla bla. |

Samba Seller.. wuxxy
I recently found a item on theSamba from this seller, but after reading his feedback was very cautious about buying from him. I contacted the seller and asked him about the negative feedback. His reply seemed to make sense and admitted that the entire event still haunts him and it was all one big mix up. Moving, changing address, etc, etc.
Anyway I mentioned how do I as a Samba Buyer know that I can trust you on this item?
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=774444
He was selling a used Weber 32/36 with a type2 intake for $150.00 The man actually mailed the entire package to me and told me that after I receive it mail him a checkā¦.. I received the carb setup via US priority mail within a few days all was as stated in his ad. I have since spoken with this seller via phone to thank him for taking the chance and shipping the carb without receiving any funds etc from me, he sounded like a decent guy, and expressed to me how sorrowed that he was over the pass mix-up. Now if this guy was really as bad as is stated why would he take such a chance in shipping, cost etc without receiving any funds 1st. ??????
I would gladly do business with this seller again, and again! No Problems here! :D |
