Dont know his email
Just where he lives
and thats by memory not google

I WILL NEVER BUY OR ATTEMPT TO BUY FROM HIM UNLESS
ITS A DIRE EMERGENCY

I went down there to Buy a used engine
(complete for FI to Stock Muffler)

Had money in my hand and pointed out the one i wanted
Then he was like " I got a Rebuilt Longblock for sale"

I was like OK
Took a look at it and was on the fence over Used to rebuild or Already rebuilt

Longblock 3x more than the Used complete engine

But Still Neither were That $$$

I tell you that longblock sat there for as long as
Monk (V.I.Volks, lorton, VA) can remember
-atleast 5 or 6 years

WELL
i said to him "OK i will get one or the other
Maybe Both..."

Tried to give him 200$ for a hold and said i WILL be back next weekend (if not the weekend after)
and get either one or both.

AND Monk went by there probably 3 times in the next two weeks as well.

Wouldnt take it
and said" Oh its been here for ever ... its not going anywhere"

Next weekend - couldnt go get it
the 2nd weekend i called Monk so that we could go pick it up
and he told me that Buggyman SOLD IT

RIGHT OUT FROM UNDERNEATH ME

I found out that NOT 2 Days after i spoke to him, and was standing there with $ in hand, is when he sold it

I was under the understanding that when i said
"My engine is going, I NEED one of these ASAP"
maybe he would of thought that i wanted it
or atleast givin me or Monk a call and say"If you want it you have to come get it NOW"

???

i might go and buy one of the used ones that i originally looked at for parts (but i doubt it)

BUT Monk is rebuilding me an engine and i trust his work

*Buggyman* If you ever go to buy from him GET IT IMMEDIATELY ... DO NOT HESITATE OR HE MIGHT SELL IT OUT FROM UNDERNEATH YOU LIKE HE DID ME
...or just look other places
like Monk

just a warning

I really do not see what you are flaming about. Buggyman will not take any deposit from you should have been an indication that he did NOT want to go that route. If you have noticed, they are NOT in a hurry to sell anyone ....anything. The shop is fully paid and everything else is just play money. What made you think that he will be interested in a lousy $200 deposit?

You are going to need something...sometime. Buggyman is probably the last of its kind of shop that still has stash of stuff nobody cares about anymore. And I hope he and mom will be around long to support this VW hobby in the northern VA, MD, DC area.

Please be kind to people.

I know there are times that you just gotta have instant gratification, but damn dude.

And oh...that case of yours if you ever find one for a 1776cc or 1915cc?
I will probably be doing the machine work on that. There is nobody else in northern VA. Unless you can get Monk to drive to MD for machine work...doubtful though since he is very busy.

I would not go flaming anyone in your area with having to do with VWs. It is a dying hobby in this particular place anymore. Be kind.

That is my peace.

money didn't change hands so there is no way Buggyman was indebted to close the deal with you or hold anything.
i don't see why someone has to take a deposit when he wanted full price or nothing.
that should of been a clue to you that he wasn't going to wait until you wiped your butt and got your money ready.
how did he know you was gonna be back?you came without all the money ready, that's not his fault or his problem.
for once i agree with NS, grow up and stop expecting other people to have to pick up your slack.
Quote: "My engine is going, I NEED one of these ASAP"
should of came to buy instead of trying to "finance" it.

Look
First of all i HAVE bought from him many times before
and it wasnt
NO I Dont Want Your Money

It was
Hay friend
I know your in a bind but this Rebuilt longblock will do you better...
Even tho i know you came with the money for the used engine, im going to up sell you

And I was OK with it and said to him
"Yeah i would much rather have a rebuilt then having one rebuilt"

I Came With the money for the used engine
And i tried to give it to him for said engine OR part of the rebuilt
and he shrugged it off like
Thats ok you dont need to worry about it going any where,
ya know its been here for ever...

THATS what i got out of it
and at that point i was cool with spending more to get it

Not 2 days later... someone came out of No Where that he didnt know as well as me
and sold it with out even a simple phone call

He Can Do What Ever He Wants With His Stuff.
BUT dont be cool with me and try to help me out
and then turn around and F%#K ME.

Business is Business
But thats being an ass

I have always done what i have said to him
In any time frame or less
NEVER FAIL
and im at my lowest and Need something and thats how he is

you need stuff
Yes Johnny probably has it
and will sell it to you

MY RANT is that ANY other vw guy i have delt with
(i can think of at least 5 or so)
in the MD, VA, DC area has never nor do i feel would ever mess me over like that. and i would hope they wouldnt.

If the guy offered More money than he said to me
FINE
but it wasnt like that

Atleast give me a ring and say "Hey, a dudes down here and want to buy this, You have the money RIGHT NOW and you get it first"

its not like i was going to get a window crank cuz mine was old
My car (DD) is off the street at the moment

AND i know that Monk went out there Personally twice and said to him the same thing.
And he never told him that he sold it till the 2 weeks later when i called to get it.

But thats what Rants are for

And i already have Monk building me one
So All Is Kosher.

I am sure the other guy's money is just as good as yours. He just happened to have all of it there when he says he was buying. :D I would not hold that against Buggyman (AKA..Johnny). And certainly do not bash him online. I know he does not spot anyone.

Well..it is good that you will spend the money with Monk on that engine.
See...worked out well.

then what don't you edit the nasty crap you wrote about him in the first post if all is ok now or ask the mod to remove this thread?

sharkskinman Tue Apr 01, 2008 6:04 pm

because i dont want ANYONE going out there thinking that they are more friendly with him then the next guy.

With mine and his history
i thought we were good on the whole situation
But i guess i was wrong

I dont wany anyone else to make the same mistake

I wanted to post here to let people know that Buggy Man is still in business. Google and Yelp both say that the shop is closed, but it is not. The phone number changed and the new number is 571-212-2872. I bought a bunch of stuff from John last Saturday and the place still looks the same as ever. It is great to have them in the area as a source of parts, especially good used engine parts (for me anyway). They have other non-engine and new parts too though.

By the way, I asked John and he said I could post the shop contact info. online.

Buggy Man AKA Buggyman
8906 Hooes Rd, Lorton, VA 22079
