Hello (from France !),

I am about to have my Manx style buggy repainted and I would like to have it in the red of the "original" Meyers Manx.

Does anyone know what color it is exactly ? Does it correspond to a precise "known" color code ?

I enclose you a couple of pictures so that you can see exactly what I am talking about ... Thanks !!!

I don't know the exact colour but I used Dodge Viper Red. It's the same orang type of red as the photo's you posted.

Meyer's Manx color code 13S, Tangerine Red

First of all thank you very much for your answers !!!

It's not easy to find information about buggies in France ... We are probably too far from California !!!

@ Rick Iverson,

Can I just give this code to my garage ? Do you know if this 13S code from Meyer's Manx corresponds to a PPG code ? Or to any other popular paint color/manufacturer ?

Thanks !!!

I don't know what color Bruce had #1 painted but I seem to remember #4; Quattro was painted in a Dodge truck red (?).

Hey Bud, I have checked PPG with no results. But I'm still working on it.

Is 'Old Red' painted or is it the original gelcoat finish?

Thanks for your support !!!

I am sure that the topic will be useful for all the enthousiasts who want (like me !) to build an "original" Meyers Manx replica ...

I am looking forward to hearing from you !!!

Here in the US we can't buy new Meyers Manxes anymore, however I'm pretty sure they are being made and sold in France today, under license from the Meyers Manx company. Have you talked to the company in France about getting a Meyers Manx with the gel coat color you want?

bigfab Wed Mar 19, 2008 7:42 am

I know for sure that you can find them in England (here actually :http://manxbuggies.co.uk/) but I couldn't buy one there because they are right hand drive ... And quite expensive

But in France I am almost sure that you find only poor replicas, I have never heard about real Meyers Manxes sold under licenses in France :?:

Anyway I have made another choice, I have bought one in the US and I have it rebuilt in the US as well. First it's really cost effective (the Dollar is low vs. the Euro at the moment, the spare parts are also much much cheaper).

But above all it seems to me more "authentic" to have my buggy beeing rebuilt in the US and coming from California :D :D :D

I will open another topic to keep you posted about the rebuilt and give you my feedback about the professional I have chosen and that I have found on thesamba of course

Jacky Morel has the rights to build the Classic Manx in France. His are listed as genuine Meyers Manxes by the Meyers Manx registry.

How can you do business at the 21st century without a website

I never heard about them, even if I am on their side of the Antlantic ocean ???

I'm even more certain I have made the right choice by having my buggy rebuilt in the US

Thanks for the info anyway, Iw ill keep you posted with my rebuilt in the US, I think that the workshop I have chosen is really very very competent :D

Manx dealer for France; Plastac, Lege Cap Feret.
Been there in 2005 and bought me a Meyers Manx hardtop 8)

Thanks for the info, but again, I never heard about them and I have been living almost 10 years in Bordeaux ... 50 kilometers away from them

Moreover $7000 for a kit without chassis, wheels, engine, seats, roll bar, gauges ... Is a real rip off

I prefer to deal with a company in the US, they are honnest, straightforward and competent :P

bigfab Wed Mar 19, 2008 1:22 pm

Actually this company is really "selling the badge" ...

BL3Manx Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:17 pm

Bruce Meyers also sells the Manxter kits for $5600, $7000 and $10,000. There's a lot more to them than just a tub and hood. Compared to other nice full length sand rails you can buy, they're an absolute bargain.

I can still buy a VW chassis here for about $200 so its one of the smaller expenses. The engine, trans, wheels and interior are where things can get expensive.

If you build it youiself, a nice Manxter will probably wind up costing anywhere between $10K and $20K, and its real easy to go over that.

bigfab Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:31 pm

The Manster Kit in France is more than $12,500 with almost nothing in it !!!

Again, I really think that buying a good base in the US and having it rebuilt in the US is the most cost-effective solution (especially considering that the spare parts are also more advantageous in the US).

nightmanx11 Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:36 pm

Just checked the Meyers Manx, Inc site Manxter kits go for $5,595, $7700, and $10,250, plus chassis, front end, trans, engine, etc.
