Not exactly day trading, but back in 2003 I bought some XMSR at around $3 and in 2005 I sold them for about $40.
I wish I had bought more at the time, I wouldn't be working now.

Circa late 1985 early 1986
$6k (lotta money for me then (and now))
Just out of college, new to investing
Plan: Buy and hold.
Narrowed Choices: Bank Stock (in Oklahoma) or Harley Davidson (when they came out of AMF)
Decsion: Bank Stock
6-8 Month later: Bank is tits up, due to oil boom crashing in OK. I wasn't watching lost it all.
10 years later the same investment in Harley would have been worth $1.2M.
I didn't dabble in the stock market for the next 10 years. Which in retrospect was a mistake.
Dodge and Cox, some Internationals and Emerging markets are all working fairly well for me.
Key is to diversify and hold |

It's easy. Just buy low and sell high. That's all you have to do.
Unless you short sell - then do the opposite!!

My Wifes grandmother invested in Harley from a tip from her nephew who was a stock market wiz. she made out ok. she used to watch the stocks every morning back when i met her granddaughter in 2000. now at 96 her eyesight isn't so great though. |

So has anyone taken a look at there 401K lately?(don`t) I just lose $16,000 in three months. I would really like to move it to something safer and should have done it by now. The only thing that has stopped me is that the Federal Reserve (number one thieves in the world) keeps playing the paper for money game. If it jumps up I`ll move. But I really think this country is in for some real hurt and pain thanks to greed. |

Sub-prime loans are one example and proof of your statement. |

I looked and my 401K went down 1% in the last quarter of 2007. Not a big deal? I'm guessing yours went down more unless you have $1.6M in your 401K, in which case that is a nice balance, depending on your age. |

I wish 1.6m. No I just have and have had everything in high risk and when it`s up it`s up and down it`s down. There`s alot of people out there that find 4% return in the guaranteed works fine for them but not for me. The only thing I`m saying is that if it get bad I`ll jump in with all the guaranteed folks for a minute or two. |

I am looking to get a part-time job to support my 401K.
It is down -13% this year and learned my lesson and have begun diversifying in a little safer mix. |

I bought Visa yesterday for a client on the secondary for a tad over 55.00. He's a happy camper. |

I bought Visa yesterday also at a tad over 55 as well. Doing pretty well so far.
I have a few friends that work for Visa and were able to buy large chunks at the pre-ipo price. Wow, are they gonna do well. |

I stepped up my Roth contributions in January, but my big thing this year is paying off loans as fast as I can.
