Oh wait, I don't use Windows or a Mac. I use Linux. It is free and virus free.
You are playing the odds. There just isn't as many linux hackers. That will go up with linux popularity.
I agree. That's the main reason I run a locked down router and a firewall/anti-virus. Ubuntu is getting pretty popular, but due to it's design and the fact that it is always updated/evolving it is a much harder system to hack, hence the reason I posted the above link. BUT, NOTHING is safe if someone skilled wants in. |

AVG antivirus free edition
Spybot Search & Destroy
Ad-Aware 2007
With those 3 programs you should stay virus free. Norton sucks like no other. As soon as I installed AVG, it found things that Norton was missing. Use Ccleaner to keep things clean too. |

There are just as many people out there writing viruses for Linux, as there are people writing popular software for it :P. So you're safe  . |

I run AVG with no problems. They now have an upgraded version, 8.0 I believe, that is better than version 7. I also run PC Tools Registry Mechanic and am happy with it. |

I use Avast on my 1 and only windows computer the rest are either mac or linux. I have a hardware firewall that is pretty locked down. I actually saw in the log this morning someone tried to run a password script against it... They didn't get very far. They were doing it long enough for me to track and see where they were hitting it from... Somewhere in Ohio... Usually when it gets hit its from somewhere overseas... |

I have had them all, mcafee, norton, even windows firewall, and the pop-ups were coming through no problem, drove me nuts. I used to run 3 different scans everytime I booted up, and within a few seconds they'd be back.
Finally stopped using internet explorer as my browser, and switched everything over to Firefox.
Haven't had a single pop-up months, and I uninstalled mcafee, and norton. Only running the windows firewall...haven't run a scan in a few weeks.
The problem is with internet explorer. The only time I need to use it is to go to Windows update...On the Microsoft site, I get pop-ups. |

You have spyware/malware. Get AdAware and Spybot search and destroy. For a start. Then stay off of the porn sites... 8) |
