When I start my 58 the green light comes on and will stay on untill I hit the throttle. I just changed the oil and I am full. I let the car sit and idle for five minutes straight and the light did not turn off. As soon as I barely tap the trottle the light turns off. Did not notice this when I first got the car because I only started it once then changed the old oil out. Any Ideas would be very helpfull. Thank you!!! |

#1 did this start after you changed the oil ? #2 Are you using an oil correct for the temperatures where you are 10W40 should be fine #3 is your idle set too low ? My split window will idle so low that you can count the cylinders firing and the oil light will stay on unless the RPMs are over 700. It should idle at +/- 850rpm. |

I used 10w30 for the oil. I know the idle is ok because when I tap the throttle the idle will go up for a second then go back down and the light will go out. (Sorry for the run on sentence) |

HI,
My first cheap fix would be to change the oil pressure sender unit. It's old, probably tired and possibly a little sluggish. Once you up the RPM's (thus the oil pressure) it "clicks" off and stays that way until the next start up.
