Or may be some sambanistas would upload bigger pictures on some independent photo hosting sites when these bigger pictures won't be accepted by the samba gallery. That's what I do.
Thanks |

| I try to upload here, but I am always told they are too big or corrupt. So I load them to flikr where they are not too big or corrupt. |

It's better to resize them regardless. If they are too big for the Samba gallery so you upload them elsewhere and they embed them into threads here, you are probably killing a lot of people when they try to read threads.
A lot of it is just that digital cameras store files as uncompressed so a lot of time you can just open an image and re-save it to get it small enough to upload. |

| Would it be better if I just post a link to the picture where I upload it? |

Ev, Have you looked into a re-sizer for the samba gallery? |

I could re-size them like the Classifieds re-sizes photos for ads but the problem is that people will still have issues with trying to upload huge photos.
I did recently increase both the file size and max pixel size for the Gallery but you still need to at least open and re-save your photos from a digital camera so they have some compression. Digital cameras take photos with little to no compression so each picture is huge in file size, even if you shoot at 640x480 size. |

Oh cool, I hadn't noticed the increased file size.
I don't know how all the picture stuff works, but I was just reading this thread and noticing that many people don't like having to resize their pictures in order to post them, so they just use photobucket instead because that site automatically resizes the pictures when you upload them. No extra steps required. I guess I was just asking if thesamba could do that, to make it easier to upload pictures. If it was some simple little program or some extra code it'd be worth it, I would think. |

| I don't have the "gallery" button under my posts. What does that mean? If I do download some photos, does the button magically appear? :?: |

| Yes. Until you start downloading you will not have the gallery button. |

When I download pics from the camera onto the computer, I usually save them to 'Email Size' and that automatically makes them fit within the samba's size criteria. |

I like it when the pics used in the forums are from samba because I can see all photos without any issues.
If one uses a hosting site with a link to a photo album that works ok.
But when a pic is used from a hosting site alot of times I only see a box with an X in it.
I have been researching old topics and the pics are gone. Whats the use of and old thread that uses pics to discuss or show somthing and the pics are gone.
With alittle practice uploading here on Samba is real easy with no issues. |

As far as I know your phone won't allow to upload photos either so it doesn't really matter.
If I am mistaken, change the resolution of your phone camera and they should be small enough to upload. |

| I really wish everyone would learn to use the onsite uploader, I don't know about anyone else, but if I open a post and see red x's I just close it without looking any further. I may be missing out on a lot of good info, but in my H.O. if you can't figure out how to do something as simple as upload a pic, how can I trust that you know what you talking about on any other subject??? |

Good to know you can post from a phone.
It seems to me like a lot more of my VW friends are posting pix on facebook. Any thoughts on how the Samba can avoid missing out on good photo contributions due to the desire to reach more non-VW people and post pix of any subject on the fb? Not to mention you don't have to resize either. |
