Yesterday....while I was helping Momma with her Garage Sale...I started stripping my "new" Thing front beam. I got the brake rigging off the back plates. I'm going to have some parts replacing to do, but it's not too bad :)

I'm not running hoover hoses here. So anyway, today, I just drove her, enjoyed some good dirt and gravel roads... and had fun ! |

Finally got around to finishing the right rear rocker repair on the '74 ex-Acapulco and then started the miserable task of taking of about 17 layers of cracked paint from the hood. Kinda cool to see the original Acapulco blue under all that mess.

Looks can be deceiving! She is in good shape, but not right. There was some shoddy collision repair done on the DS rear corner, along with some equally poor body work on the inner rockers. All this was accomplished in 81 when my Dad had her restored in Greece(outer rockers, paint, upholstery).
SO, almost 30 yrs later, it's time for a redo!
Grafting another rear clip, patching inner rockers, New engine, poosibly new pans, new Upholstery, new windsheild, and new paint!

Well, it wasn't today, it was Wednesday  I took Hermann over to the Depot when I went to take my re-certification rules test. The only problem I had was that it was a little "brisk" at 7:30AM, and running Hermann without his top, I about lost all the feeling in my ears  Other than that, It was a successful 40 mile round trip :D

Not all done today but the latest progress is: Dash kit, radio, cup holder, map light / interior light, The Thing sticker, horn, horn button, front and
rear blinker lenses, hard top, defrost lens, gas cap, side mirrors - waiting on passenger side
For now the speakers are only held in place by their magnets. Need to get some front and rear speaker panels to actually hold them in place.
Changed out the turn signal lenses and the brake light / blinkers. Will be changing the brake light blinkers back to the original with new lenses hopefully.
I wanted the smoked lenses but the aftermarket ones really are total junk. If they had made just the lenses you could change instead of trying to do
the whole assembly it might have been alright. The connections keep coming loose, making them not work. Picked up a hard top. Need to do some sanding
or grinding to get it to fit better.

That's my daily senario only I leave home at 6:30. I believe I've learned to dress for it better, however.

| Replaced the cables to the heater boxes. Originals were cut exiting the tunnel. I now have heat! Next up is to fix the defrost/heat cables which were cut as well. For now I have all of the heat exiting via the defrost. |

Let me know if you need any cable connectors. I have some extras.
Or make your own from "European electrical terminals" available at Radio Shack.
