*Well I searched and I didn't come up with much*
I picked up a complete GE 2.0 FI motor today that I will be rebuilding for my bus. It came with most of the FI system which I don't really need so I might just sell, but also had a distributor. Score, I thought, I have been looking for a spare to keep in the bus. I started looking at the code and didn't recognize it so I started searching and I don't think it is the proper distributor for this engine, any idea what it is/goes to? My bus has a JFUD 4 and the sticky above does not list the configuration seen here, Z 43.

Well they are both 021 905 205 P distributors but one has JFUD 4 on top and the other has Z 43. What is the significance of this, if any? |

one could probably surmise that the Z43 is a supercession to a later coding system. i am sure the coding has changed over the years.
from Ratwell:
1.48 Distributor Decoding
01/31/08 - With help from friends, I finally understand what the codes on the side of Bosch distrubutors stand for. Take the one in my bus: JFUD 4 (left arrow).
J - 1st Position [Housing Diameter]:
J, JG, JH, JN or JGN = up to 70mm
P, PG, PH, PN, PGN = from 71 to 83mm
T, TG, TH, TN or TGN = from 84mm
FU - 2nd position [options]:
F = Mechanical advance
U = Vacuum advance
Y = additional mechanical advance (e.g. butterfly linkage)
M = shielded (for radio interference)
D = RPM limiter
R = Rotor with resistor
Z = Distributor with dual points
S = Sport
X = Special (e.g. impulse pickup, tach-hookup)
4 - 3rd position [# of cylinders].
Left arrow - last position [direction of rotation]. |
