The video for Candy? It wasn't a convertible... just an ABD tuned NB. She has made fun of that video and the car herself... guess that's what you end up making when you have no artistic control.
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen the chick's friend drove a Ghia convertible. In The Girl Next Door Elisha Cuthbert drove an Aquarius Blue NB convertible. Drew Barrymore drove a red (?) bug in Mad Love. There are tons more but that's what I can remember right now that hasn't been listed. |

I can't believe nobody remembers "What's Up Doc?" with Barbara Striesand. The big chase scene at the end was in a Beetle with a van getting smashed over and over on one side so when the owner comes out and tries to open the door it just tips over. They cut that out of the version they show on TV so you have rent it to see the van. The chase scene ends with the VW floating in the bay and all the other cars sinking.
"Boy, they really built these things..." Woody Allen after starting a VW found in a cave in the distant future. |

They used a beetle in the TV remake as well. The driver got frustrated when traffic backed up behind him on a mountain and he says something like, "Pass me, can't you see I'm driving a VW?" |

I'm not sure if this counts, but on the news, WWLTV (i think), they were talking about people comming back from evacuating for Ivan... there was a pic w/ half of an old Vw van, not sure of the year... it was in the litle picture thing next to the news room anchor, and was following behind a winebago |

I just remembered another '70s movie I saw when I was a kid. In one of the numerous Killer Bees movies, the climax had the hero & heroine drive a VW bug into the Astrodome and lure the entire swarm in. The bees swarm around the bug, but can't get in (thanks to air-tight German engineering!). Meanwhile, the A/C gets turned up in the Astrodome, eventually getting cold enough to kill all the bees. Sorry if I ruined the ending of that crappy movie for anyone, but I doubt any TV stations play it anymore. |

My daughter was watching Snow Dogs the other day (Cuba Gooding, Jr), and I walked through the living room just as he discovered a beetle covered in snow. Looked like a 70's standard. He hooks the dog team up to it and takes off. He crashes into a tree eventually, but I don't think they had to hurt the car for the scene. |

Overnight Delievery, horrible movie, except that it has Reese Witherspoon in it and she drives a Purple Thing for the better part of it, until it gets pushed off of a cliff  .
Also Kelly's Hero's, a few Kubels in that movie. |

Yeah, I saw that Reese Witherspoon crap- another good Thing sacrificed in the name of bad entertainment. There's a movie named Romero I had to watch in Sunday school- Raul Julia is driving a green Thing and it gets shot up and flips on its side. I think the guys w/ AKs were in a bay window. I hate to see VW on VW violence. |

"Tin Men" with Richard Dryfus and Danny Devito. A very funny movie set in the early sixties, about aluminum siding salesmen. They all drive big Cadillacs but there are references to VW Beetles. Richard Dryfus' character is thinking about selling Beetles as a new career. |

Oh, man! I almost forgot! The Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles movie had an old bus. They escaped in it then cracked the block. Casey Jones said the crack was as big as the San Andreas fault and that they should shoot it. |

In the Ghostbusters cartoon, the secretary (can't remember her name) drove a yellow Beetle vert.
They actually made a toy of it, the Bug transferred into a monster lol. I still have mine from when I was a kid. It's a strange mix of years. The toy has early bumpers, '67 style front fenders, vert W lid, and a dash like a curved windshied Stuper. |

Not sure if anyones mentioned this one. It's fairly new, LadyKillers with Tom Hanks and one of the Wayan bros. The scene where the safari looking dude is about to load the cash into a split bus. All you see is the outline of the bus since it's taking place at night. It's definitely a split bus though. |
