Watched part of Magnum Force the other day and was diggin' all the VW's in SF back in the day until Clint wiped out what appeared to be a very sweet 13 window.

"Normandy" which you can find on Redbox etc, has tons of kubel's and some good schwimmwagen stuff in it. Nothing in the water but lots of driving around stuff

I thought the movie itself was kind of lame and cheesy though.

There's a new Sci-fi thriller coming out with Halle Berry & Tom Hanks called Cloud Atlas in which Halle will be driving an aircooled Bug that gets slammed into. I love the use of VWs in movies but hate when they get demolished.

hdsurf wrote: Saw a movie few weeks back...this kid has to go to the outskirts of hell to save his girlfriend. It's a total B-flick from the nineties but in one scene the guy is driving on his way to hell and is surrounded by hundreds of VW beetles. I'm not sure of the significance but I thought it was interesting. I just looked it up it is called Highway to Hell with Kristy Swanson.

My bug was one of the ones used in this. We got paid 300.00 to drive up and down an abandonned air strip all day. During the day there was a lot of down time do a couple of the bajas would race up and down the desert surrounding the strip in between takes. One of them flipped and rolled about 6 times and his day was over. They also had a "Herbie" show up early on but they told the driver he wasn't needed - they didn't want Disneys legal team after them.

Two movies coming out in late October 2012 with classic air cooled VW's in them: "Chasing Mavericks" is FULL of them as old VW's are sort of a prerequisite for surf movies. The other is "Cloud Atlas" in which Halle Berrys character actually gets t-boned off a bridge to drown in what looks to be a '58 or '59 type 1.

Not movies, but tv shows. Grimm and Once Upon a Time.

There's a movie on Netflix streaming with Mel Gibson called "Get the Gringo". There's a scene in a salvage yard with the biggest wall of crushed bugs I've ever seen!
