1970 VW bus. The entire thermostat/flap system was missing on this bus when I got it so I ordered the replacement parts from Awesome Powdercoat. I just recently had time to work on it again and I’ve run into the issue that when I try to hook everything up the connecting link between the two control flaps hits right into part of the fan housing. - See pictures below.
Also, with the parts I got there doesn’t seem to be any sort of clip, or snap ring, etc to secure the connecting link to where it attaches to the control flaps. Since I never got to lay eyes on the original thermostat/flap system and I haven’t found much good information online about it I don’t have any idea what these parts would look like to try and get some. Advice on how to deal with this situation is greatly appreciated.

| You ordered parts for a 1970 model, yet the shroud you have is a 1971 model, the doghouse version uses some extra links and a different bar. AP sells the clips for them too. |

| The "safety clips" shown in the ACN ad above work good, but the original flap shaft retainers were little coil springs, VW #211-259-283, the same ones used on the accelerator pedal linkage. |
