Hi, I own a Vanagon 1990 2WD and it makes 4 years I am running with the nipple open without cable between Idle Control Valve Boot and Intake Air Distributor.

I'm fine at the moment but I would like to know if it would be better to look further to connect it or at least cap it if dust can get sucked there?

Thanks

It's a 3mm hard line that goes from the ISV to the vacuum valve on top of the charcoal canister. Your local auto parts store has the stuff in pre-packaged, 3-foot sections. If the short rubber connecting hose on the vacuum valve is missing, or shot, you'll need to replace it as well.

It's all part of the evaporative emissions equipment. If not replacing that line, I'd put a plug in the ISV connection.

Hook it up. It is an effective smog control device with no downside in engine performance.
