HEy aircooled people I have a 1970 Ghia vert I got all the electronics working except
for the horn
I've tried everything and no joy there is a brown wire looped on itself in the
steering column
and a brown wire soldered to the brass tab on the steering wheel bearing. Now
I've tested
my dual horns and they both sound when I apply 12 volts so I know they are
working and I have the horn
relay hooked up the bently says you hook terminal 56 to the brown wire and it
looks like it goes into the turn signal assembly
so when I hook terminal 56 to the brown wire from the steering wheel bearing the
horn goes off but stops when I push the horn button?
when I hook terminal 56 to the born wire in the steering collumn the horn goes off
and wont stop no matter what I do so I give
if someone kowns the secret please share if not I going to send it to the shop

Do the bolts that hold down the horn ring have good plastic grommets around each or them? Are the springs under the horn ring? Sounds like the horn ring is either making contact from not having enough clearance from the steering wheel or the bolts are shorting out against the horn ring because of a bad or missing plastic grommet.I vaguely remember this thread from a while back and dont remember if this stuff has already been recommended. Forget what I wrote, I didn't look at the year of your car.For some reason I was thinking it was an early Ghia. Too tired or too old I guess.

No I think you have it right :) I have three nylon inserts that that seem to insert from horn ring to horn contact ring
then there are three longish flat head screws what go throuh the horn ring in three places now I thought you slide the screws through the whole
then put the spring on then tighten down the whole thing. Now I noticed
today that there should be three nylon washers that I don't have where do they go thanks for tring to help

Ok, sounds like you have the early horn ring set-up. The nylon washers go on the top side of the horn ring around the screws and keep the head of the screw from shorting out on the horn ring.The nylon bushings go on the bottom of the horn ring between the horn ring and the springs and keep the springs from shorting out on the horn ring.The brown wire clamps to the horn ring.If this doesn't make sense let me know and I will post a picture with one screw backed out to show the nylon bushing and spacer in the gallery tomorrow. A simple way to test the rest of your wiring is to make sure the horn wires are connected, then take the brown wire off the horn ring and touch it to the nut that holds the steering wheel on (horn should blow).If it works then you know all the rest of the circuit is correct and the problem is in the horn ring.
